Many of you will have seen our latest updates and know how excited we are to be open again for hair appointments and selected beauty treatments already! We are complying with the government guidance and are delighted to say that as from 1st August all treatments, including those on the face will be available once again. July was a fantastic month welcoming back clients, thank you all for your loyalty.

The first few weeks back have been a whirlwind of hair appointments with everyone keen to get their first post-lockdown haircuts, colouring and hair extensions and we were thankful to have Sherri with us who had planned to leave us mid April to make an exciting move into training, we’re looking forward to seeing her in her new role in the future (and welcoming her back for the odd lash extension modelling session!).

We have also welcomed Tom who has been with us since we reopened – he has hit the ground running being fully booked since day one!

updates we are very excited to be re-opening our hair studio on Saturday 4th July with all the necessary precautions in place. We have been working hard behind closed doors to ensure a safe return for all.

This month we’re putting the spotlight on Bomb Cosmetics who created the fabulous candles, shower scrubs, body butters, soaps and lip balms.

Behind the scenes we’re busy preparing to safely reopen the salon when restrictions allow us to do so. As always, health and safety remain a top priority with hygiene at the centre of everything we do, so we feel confident that when we will have all the necessary precautions in place to welcome you back when the time comes.

Away from the salon virtual training continues, with Libby having recently completed Domestic Abuse awareness training and each of us undergoing COVID-19 training to ensure we fully understand the measures that need to be in place to protect everyone coming out of this period. We have also attended online sessions with industry experts to gain advice where official guidance isn’t yet in place to allow us to be fully prepared.

At the salon itself, behind closed doors we are in the process of revamping the kitchen and bathroom downstairs with a few other projects in the planning.

Our webshop is growing with haircare, beauty and aromatherapy products, along with gift ideas arriving from our suppliers regularly. Skin Preparation for Your Staycation

With exotic poolside adventures looking unlikely this year, instead enjoy a staycation this summer in your own Buckinghamshire back garden! We’re looking at skin solutions to help you look and feel fantastic at home.

1. Treat skin to a full body exfoliation with one of our delightful Bomb Cosmetics Body Scrubs – try the Bomb Cosmetics Pink Marmalade Body Scrub (£7.99) made with Clary Sage and Lemongrass essential oils.

Mix well before applying then take a small handful and apply it to your body using a light circular motion as you go before rinsing off.

Tisserand Citronella
Organic Essential Oil

With a fresh, lemony scent and a grassy undertone, Citronella essential oil is steam distilled from the long leaves of the tropical Citronella grass.

Best known as an effective insect repellent, it also has lesser known powers to counteract feelings of lethargy and indecision, and may also be used to aid the nervous and digestive systems.

Supplier Spotlight

This month we’re putting the spotlight on tanning brand, St Tropez. St Tropez is the leading tanning brand chosen by influencers, celebrities, salon professionals and beauty editors alike.

St.Tropez’s products give a natural looking, streak-free tan with their paraben-free, easy-to-apply formulations, each of which contains a natural tanning agent. All tanning products from St Tropez, both those used in the salon for our professional spray tans and those sold for home use are cruelty-free. The brand also has a range of vegan friendly tanning products.

For home use, St Tropez produce self tan and gradual tan which builds over time. The self tanning products contain a higher concentration of the tanning agent (DHA), which results in a natural looking tan. Their gradual tans contain a lower level of tanning agent than the self tan which gives skin a sun kissed glow which builds with each application.

St Tropez use a 100% natural form of Dihydroxyacetone (also known as DHA) called Vegetan as their tanning agent, this is derived from plant sources including wheat and rapeseed. DHA reacts with the amino acids found in the upper epidermis (the top layer of the skin) and produces a different tones of colouration from yellow to brown. The levels of amino acids vary from person to person which is why we all naturally tan slightly differently in the sun, and the same applies with St Tropez tanning products.

The tanning products are combined with a unique blend of skin conditioning ingredients designed to protect and hydrate skin.

Your Guide to Step by Step Home Tanning

1. St Tropez Body Polisher (£10.00)– exfoliate with special care and attention to drier areas such as the knees and elbows.
2. Select your preferred tanning product.
3. Apply moisturiser to drier areas such as knees, elbows and knuckles.
4. Apply your tanning product as detailed on the packaging. With a product such as the St Tropez Watermelon Infusion Mousse (£31.00)(or any self tan as opposed to gradual tan) use a mitt to apply the product evenly for a streak free finish.
5. If you have applied a gradual tanning product where a mitt is not necessary ensure you wash hands immediately afterwards to remove any leftover product and avoid staining.

TIP: Exfoliating every 3-4 days will ensure a perfect fade and more even appearance to your tan.

Tisserand Ethically Harvested Eucalyptus Oil

Strong, fresh and pungent, our Tisserand Eucalyptus pure essential oil is made from 100% Eucalyptus Globulus leaf oil which is steam distilled from the blue-green leaves of the plant.

It is cleansing, invigorating and bracing for the mind and body, most commonly used to clear congestion, coughs and relieve and revive tired, achy muscles, it is also known to offer a boost to circulation.

Supplier Spotlight

This month we’re putting the spotlight on aromatherapy brand, Tisserand who have been established since 1974. Founded by Robert Tisserand, the company was founded after his mother told him about aromatherapy and the power of essential oils, he spent years studying as an Aromatherapist and initially hand bottled blends personally, sending them out to customers from his local post office each Saturday morning. Over the years the company has grown, but the ethos to bring the finest quality oils to people remains.

Their award winning essential oil products are 100% natural and approved by the Vegan Society. Their oils are sourced from around the world, and are each 100% pure organic, wild crafted or ethically harvested which is stated on each of the products.

The organic oils, bath and body products are accredited by the Soil Association with ingredients being 100% organic. Certified organic essential oils are derived from plants that have been grown without the use of any man-made fertilisers, herbicides or pesticides.

The wild crafted essential oils Tisserand produce are derived from plants that are gathered from their wild habitat in conditions which are favourable to the health of the plant, instead of being cultivated and care is taken to ensure the process remains as sustainable as possible.

Their Ethically Harvested products are derived from plants, trees and shrubs which are cultivated in a natural environment to ensure that the species is not depleted and is able to grow in abundance. This is rarely an issue with herbs, but more so with slower growing trees so care must be taken.

As we head into April most of you will be aware that the salon is temporarily closed following the government advice surrounding the Coronavirus pandemic. Thank you all for your support, understanding and lovely messages during this time.

Whilst our doors may be closed and treatments are off the menu for the moment, we are working from home in other areas of the business and our webshop is open for home delivery following the social distancing guidelines. In good news, just before we closed, Beauty Therapist Katie completed her Advanced Beauty Apprenticeship, and Senior Beauty Therapist, Emily completed her Stage One exams for her Salon Management qualification.

Emily is now busy studying from home and enjoying the spring weather and slightly warmer days as you can see in this photo. Meanwhile, Karen and Sarah are working on the webshop and keeping deliveries going – look out for a few new additions online very soon! Tisserand
