Salon Spotlight…

Throughout 2019 we’re putting the spotlight on a different treatment each month to tell you more about what each entails and how it could work for you. This month we’re focussing on Balayage and Ombré hair colouring at the salon and explaining the different choices – and which you should book to see the results your desire for your hair.
Treatment Name:
Balayage or Ombré hair colouring.

Treatment Type:
A professional hair colouring using more than one shade.

Treatment Time:
Will vary depending on the length and thickness of the hair. It’s approximately three hours on average though and we can advise you on an approximate time based on your individual hair and needs at your consultation.
Who’s it for?
Anyone wanting to create a new look with a new hair colour.

Which should I book?
There’s some confusion about the difference between Ombré and Balayage, so let’s start at the beginning. Ombré is a style whereas Balayage is a colouring technique. Ombré colouring lightens hair at the ends and a true ombré will show no distinct line, the colour will be graduated.

The Balayage technique refers to how the colour is applied, and the name comes from the French meaning ‘to sweep’ due the the fact that with this type of colouring highlights are swept across the hair. The transistion between the light and dark is slightly more natural looking with a little more depth.

When to Book:
When you are looking to update your look or simply fancy a change!
What Happens?
Your colourist will discuss the colours and results you’d like to achieve. A minimum of 48hours in advance we need to perfor a patch test to ensure you have no adverse reactions to the colours we’ll use. Ombré colouring fully saturates the ends of the hair with colour, and then diffuses upwards to create a graduated effect. With Balayage, unlike usual highlights which are applied using foils, the colour is painted directly onto the hair.

What Do I Need to Do Afterwards?
Using the correct hair products will help keep your hair in the best condition and help show off your new colour, we are always happy to advise on the best products to use at the time of your appointment. A professional shampoo and conditioner will help keep your colour for longer than some high street brands.

Results:
Both Ombré and Balayage will result in a graduated look, Balayage will look slightly more natural and sunkissed.

Cost:
Approximately £160, however this may vary depending on the length and thickness of the hair, along with the number of colours required. We will always advise you of the exact cost when you come in for your patch test and consultation.
